Details on Crave RPG Uncovered

The first RPG by Crave Entertainment promises to bring a new look and feel to the genre

November 19, 1997 - Codenamed "Project Cairo", Crave's first RPG offering for Nintendo 64 promises a fresh look for the genre with interesting, Americanized characters. The game is said to be in negotiations to use a major comic book license for both characters and background story. No details are available yet, but we're told that a popular artist may also be involved with creation of the title, so expect something that is substantially different from Square's anime RPGs, at least in appearance.

"If it was another anime RPG I don't think we'd be making it," commented Mark Burke, Vice President, Product Acquisitions at Crave. "We think the art in the game is as good as if not better than that in Final Fantasy VII."

Incidentally, Crave Entertainment is headed by Ex President of Square USA., Rich Silveira and Ted Woolsey, who was the US producer for many of Square's previous titles.

Project Cairo, still a long way off from its scheduled '99 release, is being developed to take full advantage of the 64DD.

Commentary

That was, quite literally, the most I found on the game from ANY website.

It's like reading an article about the awesome future of 8-track tapes, isn't it? I mean, you really get the feeling that these guys really wanted to change the look and feel of RPGs and they mighty awesome 64DD was the perfect medium for which to show the world their great achievement! I feel so sad. I mean, it SOUNDS cool, but if it were ever released it would have sucked. I'm sure of it. Well maybe not. Poor guys. Heh. Oh well.
